Look who's grilling...

I got to debut my grilling skills last night on my amazing outdoor fat sucking George Foreman grill. That thing is amazing, it literally drained about 2 full cups of fatty grease. God bless the Foreman. Anyway, we invited our friends Lucas and his wife Indira over and grilled away while chatting and enjoying the new "24" episode. I think we grilled every animal available at Publix: Chicken, Pork, Steak..nevermind, we forgot the fish. It was delicious though. Marcy made a New Yorker Salad with grapes & romaine lettuce and we drank some Brazilian Diet Guarana - it was a blast. It's always fun to hangout with people who share the same struggles and joys as you do. People in the same stage of life - it's exciting. Even more so when we can learn from each other's experiences and seek God for direction. I thank God for the people He has allowed me to do life with.... starting with my wife, family, band, and the rest of the gang. If you're reading this.. you're probably in that list - Thankyou ... we're in this together.

Much Love - Heredes

Home is Heaven

Negative sure is positive in this case. Praise God! After 10 days of waiting for my surgery results; it turns out that NOTHING turned out. Thank-you Lord! The swollen lymph-node was nothing but a natural reaction to a past inflammation and carried nothing harmful. I was getting nervous in the waiting room (2 hrs & 12 minutes) what an anticipation. I began realizing that the results of those tests could truly change the course of my life here on earth. If you've ever waited for serious medical test results you know what I'm talking about. However, an hour into the wait... I was showered with a joyful peace and was reminded that no matter what - I was headed home: Heaven. Yep, thats right...Home is Heaven. Now don't get me wrong, this ain't no "Emo" depressing post. God's not done with me here on earth, but I sure am ready. Are You? I walked into that Dr.'s office with upmost peace and confidence that God had me in His hands and that His plans for me are far better than anything I could imagine. Life is good, but heaven is much better. We're nothing but aliens/strangers simply passing through (1 Peter 2). No matter what results might come my way in the future, I know I'm on my way out. It was so good to be comforted by God and reminded that Christ suffered so much pain on my behalf to ensure "The Way" to heaven. Do you call Heaven Home?

"Home is heaven, One day Lord I will live, In Your courts You'll find me, In worship at Your feet." - Marty Sampson (Hillsong)

Sunday @ MBC

I was truly excited about this past weekend's team & set. The band did an awesome job... we had Tammie Garcia back from Texas (she was studying at Christ for the Nations music institute) and she blessed us with her voice this weekend. We also had newcomer Mike Coia debut on electric guitar - he comes to us from North Carolina. You rocked man, you and your 1940 fender amp. The congregation was pumped and jumped in immediately, it was a great time of worship - it is certainly great when the people come in worshipping and don't wait till the last song to connect. My prayer is that our weekends may be an overflow of praise simply reflecting a week full of worship. Here's this past weekend's set:

Your Grace is Enough - Chris Tomlin
You Are - Heredes & Ivan
Everlasting God - Brenton Brown
Jesus Lover of My Soul - United version
Hallelujah (Our God Reigns) - Hillsong

Keep on rockin & rolling team. It is a blessing to worship with you all!

(Note: the picture here was taken last December with the youth vocal ensemble) You rocked too -Ok? Happy? I posted about you! :)

Four wheeler Fun

After a day out at the Knausberry farm in the Redlands (where we enjoyed the world famous sticky buns and strawberry shakes) it was time for a little fun at my father in law's bike shop... I almost got run over - check it out.

Loving God in a Lukewarm Church

This morning I was able to hear Francis Chan's talk from Passion 07': "Loving God in a lukewarm Church". This is a must for all you passionate God followers. What a reality check. Chan challenges our motives for worship and questions our passion for God. Do we desire God and His presence, or do we simply desire polished teaching and catchy worship singles in concert arenas? Ouch... Go ahead and the spend the $3.49 to buy the EP on iTunes. It includes two songs from passion 07' that are OK, but the message is needed. Let me know what ya'll think...

Brownies, Surgery & Cirque

Before my surgery this morning, I needed to fast from solid foods and all liquids including water - that was from 11 PM last night till 1 PM this afternoon! Crazy stuff... So Marcy prepared an awesome healthy farewell dinner last night. The menu was: Homemade mashed potatoes, Sirloin Steak, & veggies. It was delicious and properly portioned... to top it off, we had some fat free brownies which I baked myself. (That's right mom, I'm baking... food network has caught on to me).

The surgery was a success! One because I slept all throughout the surgery (I have never been that drugged) Actually, for the record, I have never been drugged period. It was a knockout! Second, my favorite nurses were there: Marcy & Silvia. hehe I was well taken care of. Anyway, the swollen lymphnode was removed and sent to a lab to be studied. In several days we'll find out what caused the reaction and I'll get my grade - I'm hoping to get an A+. Meanwhile, I'll be resting this weekend and can't walk around too much.. it'll be a great chance to catch up on some reading.

Finally, on a side note.... be sure to check out Cirque Du Soleil's performance at the Super Bowl this weekend. They have partnered with Brazilian pop artists Romero Britto to produce a 9 minute pre game show. It promises! They will perform at exactly 5:50 PM. Visit their site for more info. www.cirquedusoleil.com
