the series before THE SERIES
A buddy of mine called me this morning asking what the heck "the series before THE SERIES" is all about ... I gave him a pretty insightful theological response : "bro .. basically it is a series before THE SERIES... !" He goes .. nah man - for real .. what is it about ? - so I repeated my answer .... "its just the series before THE SERIES that will start on November 22nd & 23rd" ... then I went on to tell him about our preparations for what is going on , remodeling , re-arranging , changes (picture below) of what will be the largest thing in Flamingo Road history .... he was pretty pumped - but still wondered what the heck "the Series before THE SERIES" was all about ... I guess common sense is not so common anymore... However - Nov 22nd & 23rd will be out of this world ... start telling your friends and making your plans to attend!

Florida Baptist Convention - Troy Gramling
For all you regular "Heredes.com" readers... this will probably the most "Baptist" post you have ever read here.. so hang with me....
I'm having the honor to attend the 2008 Florida Baptist Convention in Lakeland this week ... it's not my first time at one of these-- but it's definitely the best one so far......simply because this time I get to see my lead pastor teach twice on the main stage and share from his heart... His passionate teaching this morning brought tears to my eyes and inspired my calling as a Pastor even more! He walked on stage with a GIANT ELEPHANT and said "today we're gonna talk about the elephant in the room"!! It was anointed and powerful ! I'll post the video when I get it uploaded.....I cant wait for round two tomorrow (You can watch the live stream here at 6:40 PM Eastern)! And let me just say .. the elephant was addressed ... and very well I may add.... great job Pr. Troy ... - in due time! in due time ! Thanks for leading and inspiring like you do ...
Late into the night ... Pr. Troy lead a hangout time with some of Florida's leading & thriving churches ... great time of connecting and chatting over coffee... We got to chat with Dr. Johnny Hunt (SBC president) , he's another one that is fired up about whats gonna happen to the next generation of believers - it pumps me up! Then Pr. Troy had an opportunity to pray for him (pictured) , the changes to come and his presidency... it was a cool and unique opportunity ... I was honored to be present.
Any who .... I'm feeling like a good old Baptist boy right about now... my dad will be proud ... hehe - but no suit and tie here - just some spikes and soul patch. :)
Peace out Blogville .. I'll be back with more recapping , updates, coldplay reviews, traveling plans, November 22nd!! , and much more .... Viva la Vida
Ps .. and if you're attending the Convention ... and you are voting - John Cross is your man ... i got to officially meet him tonight -- (we had met at C3 earlier this year ) but hooked up late night tonight .... he's the right man to fire things up at the FBC.

Flip us A Bird (part. 2)
The Video ...
The Results ...
In the words of the Miami Rescue Mission…
"Turkeys, Hams and Pies will help feed the homeless on Thanksgiving
(Cooper City, FL) --- Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 1st and 2nd, 2008 --- It was an exciting two days as Flamingo Road Church in South Florida challenged its' members to "Flip Us a Bird" to benefit the Miami Rescue Mission/Broward Outreach Centers. During the two day challenge, 615 turkeys, 199 hams and 491 pies were donated to help feed the homeless on Thanksgiving Day!
During the Saturday and Sunday church services on November 1st and 2nd, Pastor Troy Gramling challenged his members to go right after the service they were attending and buy a turkey, ham or pie to donate to the Miami Rescue Mission/Broward Outreach Centers. The response was so overwhelming that one nearby Publix sold all 540 turkeys that they had on hand. Other members traveled to other grocery stores to pick up their ham or turkey. Many people brought more than one turkey or ham and one family came with 10 turkeys to donate! Another family brought $500 dollars worth of Publix gift cards! The church set up two drop off points at their main campus at 12401 Stirling Road in Cooper City. Their other campuses in Doral, Hallandale and Sawgrass also had collections that were dropped off at the main location. The drop off points stayed busy all afternoon and evening on Saturday and all day on Sunday. James Whitworth, Director of the Broward Outreach Centers in Hollywood and Pompano figured the total worth of the donations:
Go God ... Go Flamingo! See more this weekend at one of our campuses....
