Not Huck, but Chuck!
I'm not one to make political statements on my blog .... but since it is the Florida Primary today and this post might just get tons of technorati hits and Diggs just for mentioning it ... I'm going for it! Chuck has my vote.... Not Huck, but Chuck!

Marcella, Happy Birthday!
In 1983
The Lord whispered to me:
"Today I bring to you...
a beautiful baby
A baby like no other
I've formed her in the womb
A baby named Marcella
A baby meant for you
Now Heredes don't worry
Your paths will cross in life
It's done, I have ordained it
She'll grow to be your wife
But one thing please I ask
And please don't hesitate
That every year today
Her Birthday celebrate!
You celebrate her beauty
You celebrate her smile
You celebrate her health
and please celebrate a while....
Remember this forever
Your baby she will be
So treat her like she is your world
cause she means the world to Me
Now Heredes , go on
there's something you must say:"
Yes, Yes Lord ... I'm so sorry:
Marcella, Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Apple
It is January 24th 2008 .... it is Marcy's (my wife) Birthday's EVE..... (meaning her birthday is on the 25th ... "mañana")But guess who turns 24 today! Steve Job's very own APPLE
So to celebrate ... WIRED magazine decided to post some of Apple's flops in its 24 year run thus far.... 8 products in total.
Mind you ... the road to the iPhone, the Mac AIR and all their wonderful products was a lonely and painful one for a long time ... always on the edge and always innovative ... but not always successful. It's part of the risk of being the cultural trend setters they are....Has anyone ever seen or owned any of these products?

The Artist in You
Hey Blogville .... just found a neat flash site by London based artist Miltos Manetas which will encourage the frustrated artist in you to vent and create a drip-style masterpiece! The site simulates the art style of Jackson Pollock and will allow you to be the "abstract expressionist" on your block (or at least your blog) . Pictured here is the piece I just created .... go ahead and release the artist in you ! Post em on your blog and let me know how they turn out ....Tips: Click the space bar or enter button to erase your drawing and the mouse to change the color of your brush.

I love the poetry and style of this video - its both raw and relevant ...
We're looking to produce a similar set of videos for an upcoming series here at FRC .... any active poets or actors up to the challenge?

Alih Jey Music Video (feat. Heredes)
Inspired by this blast from the past (thanks Logans) ...here's one of my own I've been keeping to myself:
Alih Jey is a talented artist/songwriter signed to Universal Music. She is a phenomenal songwriter with a beautiful voice - her 2001 debut video: "It's Ok" - aired internationally on all major music video channels including MTV, IMF & FUSE .... and guess who got to play bass for her? Watch and see!
Good times! Thanks Alih! Wishing you the best!
Read her bio here & listen to her albums here
I'll have an award for whoever guesses how many times I appear. Look closely - its tricky!

Heredes & Higor
After spending some time digitizing some old VHS footage during my vacation. I am proud to unveil some old school footage for your viewing pleasure.....
It was the year of 2001 , where my brother and I finally got to attend school together... I was a senior and he was a freshman. Our bonding that year happened at the sideline - and no it wasn't football. We were the pit captains of the Miami Killian Cougar Band. I played the Marimba and percussion , while Higor (my bro) played the keys. It was a blast! We toured the state and attended every football game - Good times .... and yes , before the comments come flying in - I was indeed a band geek. As a mater of fact - in my senior year I was the T.A. for my Band Director making me the official Band Aid.
Below you will find a screen shot so you're able to locate us and the VHS quality YouTube video I dug up. Enjoy responsibly...

Christmas Express 2007
One of the cool things we were able to do at Flamingo this past Christmas was empower parents with gifts and resources so they could in turn be the heroes on Christmas morning. It's an annual event we call "Christmas Express". Over a thousand kids were blessed with a brand new bike, football, skateboard etc.... It was one of the coolest things I have ever witnessed. We literally set up a mall for parents in need to come in a freely shop - and I'm not talking about used junk - this was the real deal! The video below will give you a glimpse... Thanks to all of you who partnered with us in reaching our God potential and making an impact. (Ps... The soundtrack "Fix You" by Coldplay has to be one of my all time favorite tunes ... crank it up to 11 when watching)

Today is the day ....
Today is the day... we wear our one and only winter jacket
Today is the day... we use our car heater
Today is the day... we don't order the frappuccino
Today is the day... we order an extra hot mocha
Today is the day... we go out looking for chap stick
Today is the day... we don't wear sandals (at least I can't)
Today is the day... we breathe just to see how it frosts
Today is the day... we act like this is actually winter
Today is the day... South Florida is at 40°
